Workshop Outline

PART 1 – Unpacking the 4 steps of moderation   

Discover the core steps of an effective moderation process, from building the foundations and shared expectations to using evidence to plan targeted teaching.

We’ll break down each step and highlight what matters most, showing you how to lift instructional practice and improve student learning through a consistent, school-wide approach.

PART 2 – Hands-On Learning

Take part in a short, practical demonstration of high-impact moderation in action.

You’re welcome to observe, or if you choose to participate, you’ll receive access to our VIC Curriculum-aligned writing continuum. Together, we will:

  • Accurately assess a writing sample

  • Identify specific student needs

  • Design a targeted, evidence-based teaching cycle

You’ll be guided through each step and see how effective moderation strengthens professional practice, builds teacher capability, and maximises student learning.
